In a world dominated by speed, rapid AI development, political uncertainty and an increasingly unpredictable future, values, self-knowledge, character strengths, and inner stability are becoming more and more important. Purpose exploration, resilience and proactive use of well-being strategies are critical for mental health and also for having a sense of direction to live a happier, meaningful and balanced life. Positive Education puts these foundational skills back on the agenda in education and schools.
This pre-conference course will be split into two parts. Teachers are at higher risk of burn-out than other occupations. In line with the principle “Happy teacher – happy student”, participants will first create their own well-being profile by taking the well-being survey
Flourishatschools.com (special agreement for free usage in place). They will learn tailored strategies to use their strengths and boost their well-being at work.
In the second part of the course participants will be introduced to the main ideas and practicalities of the
E.N.G.A.G.E. well-being concept, which is based on the research of positive psychology founder Martin Seligman and his team at the University of Pennsylvania. Simple mindfulness tools as a way to build awareness and ease stress will complete the day.
This pre-conference will
- promote well-being strategies specifically designed for teachers
- give insights into the main pillars of well-being research,
