Using Learning Goals and Success Criteria to guide student learning and enhance studying.

Have you ever heard a student ask, “Is this going to be on the test?” or “Do we need to know this?”
Learning goals and success criteria are great ways to guide students to important knowledge and skills. In this workshop we will look at how to create effective learning goals and success criteria so that students can self-assess whether or not they understand the important concepts from the course. We will then see how the learning goals can be used to streamline the studying process so students can study “smart” instead of studying “long”. Bring a curriculum document and see how to transform it into something meaningful!

Outcomes:

Ways to turn wordy curriculum documents into language that students can understand so that the expectations are more transparent.
